Hello Beauties,
Today we will be making lip balm from 'Life of the Party' Lip Balm Base.
The ingredients you will need are:
Lip Balm Base (#ad)
Lip Flavor (#ad)
Lip Balm Glitter (Optional) (#ad)
Lip Balm Containers (#ad)
Rubber Scraper (#ad)
First and foremost, the lip balm containers that I use are for 3 grams, but I do not weigh out the balm that I am making. Also, when adding in your scent, I go by my nose...I just smell to see if the scent is the strength that I prefer, you can do the same. Along with the coloring, you just add what you want to get the color you want. Make sure to add slowly and stir. If you end up with a scent that is too strong or the color is too bright, you can always add more base and reheat to tone the balm down.
Prep your containers before the melting process, as the base solidifies pretty quickly.
To make your lip balm, you are going to start by scooping out a large spoonful of the lip balm base and put it into a microwaveable container.
In 5-10 increments, slowly melt the base and stir it up as you go.
You will want to melt the base down until it is completely melted into a liquid. Once you have your liquid you will want to pour in your lip flavoring.
This is completely a personal choice on how much you use. I start with a few shakes of the bottle (make sure the plastic cap is on so your flavoring comes out in drops vs pouring out), and you can smell or even sample a dip of your pinky and put it on your lips to see if you like the strength. Once you get to where you like the scent, you can add in your coloring-which is totally optional.
After you have your ingredients mixed, slowly pour them into your containers. You will want to make sure your containers are on a flat surface and free from being moved, just to ensure a nice smooth finish. This base does solidify fairly quickly, so you may have to pop it back in the microwave to melt it down. Again, make sure to do this is small increments, as you do not want to burn the base. After pouring into your containers, let your balm sit for about 20 minutes (depending on the size of your container).
Once your lip balm has solidified, you can check to see if you have overpoured any of the balm. I do this often, and it's an easy fix. You want to just take something the has a sharper edge and level off the balm, so it has a nice flat and even surface. Take any extra's and put them into an empty container, so you don't waste any extra that you have.
Now that your balm is solidified, pop on your lids and there you have a batch of homemade lip balm. They make for great gifts and allows you to show off your crafty side. Enjoy!
xoxo,
